Generic Domain Names - Announcing 3 Steps For Using Generic Domain Names

Do you want to market several products that are all in the same niche? Then you may like to think about registering just one domain name that will encompass everything you intend to market in you online business. This can save you time and money, and of course is an ideal solution for keeping all your online business activities nicely arranged and better coordinated.

1. Lets' say you're in the finance or investment niche and you're looking to market products ranging from dealing with several investment vehicles, from savings accounts to the stock market. Then you could probably choose something like xyzinvestments.com for example. However, you also have two products, one about day trading, and another about FOREX trading. Essentially these are two different animals, and for best results should not be marketed to the same target niche; you need to be more specifically targetted.

2.

So what could you do? What I would recommend is that you use a single generic folder in you web hosting software, and then add two more additional folders into which you can add index.html pages for an extension to your main domain. Both "extensions" being contained under the first one. You now have xyzinvestments.com/forex, and xyzinvestments.com/daytrading. This structure may look slightly different depending upon how you manage your hosting and folders, but that's the general idea. You could of course upload two separate html files, say forex.html, and daytrading.html into the main generic one.

3. The huge advantage with this method is that for as long as you intend to stay with one niche, you need never register another domain name. And you can add on as many additional sub categories as you like.
